The Tamborine Mountain Eagles Soccer Season Starting Soon!

Last season was a big transition for The Eagles with a growth of 30% in player numbers, and a huge increase in female members, now making up 20% of all players.

This exciting development resulted in the appointment of the clubs first professional football coach, Dean Critchlow.  Consequently our junior teams have developed great football skills and played some very attractive football with a number of the competition teams making the finals.  The Eagles are also very proud to report a number of
ex-Eagles players will be joining Gold Coast City to play in Junior and National Premier League teams for the coming season.

The Eagles are a community focused club and after listening to the community   changed its soccer offering in 2016 to provide age appropriate fun, skills based,  development focused programs for boys and girls - both individually and within a team, This has proved successful and will continue for the 2017 season:

Under 5’s Kick-Off Program

The under 5’s play once a week, with a focus on having fun, developing very basic football skills with an emphasis on agility, balance and co-ordination, beneficial to all sports.

Under 6 & 7s Kick Off Program

Players progress to two sessions a week as under 6 & 7’s, 1v1 activities eventually develop into 2v2 and then 4v4. Having fun continues as a big focus, and learning the skills and techniques for moving into the Mini-Roo’s phase.

Under 8-11s Mini-Roo’s

The Mini-Roo’s further the development of individual players skills and techniques, whilst maintaining the element of fun. Players also begin to develop knowledge of how to play as a team and understand the game. The under 8-9’s play 7-a-side against other clubs on the Gold Coast, while the under 10-11’s play 9v9. Results are not recorded. There is no league table. The focus of this age group is player development.

Under 12-18+ Competition

Throughout this competition age group players are part of a larger squad and play 11v11 on a full size field. Scores are recorded and all teams play in a league table with the aim to finish as high as possible in the league table; the end of the season consisting of semi finals and grand finals.

The Eagles will also run its program for young referee enthusiasts again in 2017. In 2016 the club organised a number of skills workshops run by Football Gold Coast, under the guidance of Referee Coordinator, Jacqui Sharp.

In addition The Eagles are pleased to announce Dean Critchlow will be running ongoing coaching program’s throughout the season,  the first ‘Club Coaching Clinic’ will be held on Saturday 4th February. The Coaching Day is open to all Coaches, Managers and interested Parents who would like to get more involved with the club. All are welcome and past Coaches and Managers are encouraged to attend regardless of experience as an opportunity to welcome newcomers and to get to know each other in a supportive and social environment prior to the start of the season. A BBQ with food and refreshments supplied by the club and its sponsors will follow the Coaching Clinic. For catering purposes it would be appreciated registering attendance by contacting Dean 04515 57270 or email tmeaglescoaching@gmail.com

The new season will also see an upgrade of the goals and nets following a successful  application for two community grants in 2016. There is a lot happening at The Eagles and the club invites the local community to get involved.

The Eagles registration is now open, to sign up for the 2017 soccer season go www.tamborinemountaineagles.com.au. Registrations close at the end of Saturday 4th February.
